#Secondhand NOT just for September

To raise awareness for #secondhand September we reached out to some of the top stylists in the industry for tips on how to style basic outfits with jewellery. Now it is nearing the end of September we want to keep the momentum going. Hopefully the #secondhand September campaign not only got you to appreciate the clothes you already own but also to learn about the negative impact fast fashion has on our planet.
Being a conscious shopper shouldn’t just be for one month, so we’re carrying on with our mission raising awareness for sustainable, slow fashion and so we have changed our campaign to #Secondhand NOT just for September!
We want to share the tips we got from our stylists and get you to change up outfits you already own by styling them with jewellery. We truly believe that jewellery is the perfect way to jazz up an outfit taking it from ‘Day-To-Night, it can completely transform your look, allowing you to re-wear outfits in a different way or getting you to fall in love with an an item of clothing that was once forgotten.

In fashion terms I am very much a creature of habit and always have ‘go-to’ favourites that I like to re-work each season. My style is quite androgynous but I do love to dress-it up with my favourite jewellery.

If I’m on a shoot I love to wear easy and comfortable pieces like my Isabel Marant flight-suit or bleach denim boiler-suit with an over-sized blazer and then add a gold signet ring, some fine layering rings in silver and gold and a gold locket pendent on a medium gold chain.

Then for a more dressed-up ‘evening’ look I would wear my silver Yuul Yie heels or chunky-heeled Ganni boots and a shawl-collar tuxedo jacket and add a chunky hooped earring and layer another charm necklace on a fine chain and a gold and diamond ring for a bit of extra glamour.

I love to play around with my PI jewellery and I often base my outfits around it. Layering jewels is a great way to spruce up a fairly ordinary outfit, so for example with my linen blend white tee, straight leg jeans and Manolo Maysale mules; I would layer the ruby pinky ring, art deco diamond ring and ruby starburst ring to add a dash of colour. Along with a few layered necklaces and of course a pair of trusty gold hoops, my staple go to’s.

For a dinner date, I would probably pop my Sleeper black PJ set on so adding gold jewellery will really brighten this outfit up. However to make sure it’s not too glam, I would opt for the solid gold pieces, like the signet ring, gold band and solid gold chains. Would keep the same gold hoops as I don’t go anywhere with naked ear lobes!!!
